First destination of the day: Butterfly Park & Insect Kingdom on Sentosa Island.
I had expected to see something like the butterfly park in Kuala Lumpur. I was disappointed at the size of the park and the variety of the butterflies. However, in the end, it wasn't in vain. I learnt some new things.
My first time witnessing a golden cocoon. "Look at it from different sides," said a tour guide. "You'll see different colors."
Surprisingly, the color of the butterfly from this golden cocoon is not gold.
There were 2 Korean tourists who were accompanied by a tour guide. I paid serious attention to their guide's explanation. Aha... I was trying to opt some information for free :D
The butterflies hanging on both ears of this tourist are baby butterflies. They have just hatched from their cocoon and thus can't fly yet.
I just learnt that it takes 2 months for an egg to develop into a cocoon. The butterfly will live for 1 month. I've also just learnt that what appears like a tendril in front of the head of a butterfly is actually its mouth. The guide showed us how the mouth could be pulled out very long.
The black spots along the butterfly's abdomen are actually the butterfly's nostrils. There are 7 of them.
Poor broken-wing butterfly.
